The inland waterway in East Anglia which we all know as the Norfolk Broads has, officially, got a brand new name!
From now on it is to be called the ‘Broads National Park’ after members of the Broads Authority voted to change the name which it describes as a branding exercise and saying it will help attract more visitors. But whatever it is called we all know it’s a great place to come and have a holiday!
What started as a place to dig peat in medieval times, the Broads is now a haven for holidaymakers and very importantly wildlife that can enjoy a variety of habitats including fen, woodland, marsh and grassland.
In total there is around 125 miles of navigable waterways which are all lock free. So you can spend your valuable leisure time cruising along taking in the scenery, rather than having to go through lock after lock.
Of course everything looks better when the sun is shining, but if you have a modern, well equipped cruiser then you can have fun even if it is raining. You can still continue to cruise along and call in at places where you can enjoy yourself despite the weather, maybe shopping or going to the cinema in Norwich, exploring Lathams in Potter Heigham or Roys in Wroxham, while you are never far from a cosy pub or restaurant!
Remember your Herbert Woods cruiser is a real home from home, with LCD TVs able to pick up all the Freeview channels, while there is a fully equipped galley if you fancy honing your kitchen skills and plenty of space to relax.
But when the sun does shine you can sunbathe on your boat enjoying an endless supply of cold drinks and snacks straight from the fridge. Or just explore one of the many picturesque Broadland villages at your own pace.
Anglers might like to bring their rods with them and sit back and do some serious fishing during the season which runs from mid-June to mid-March. Don’t forget if you fish in the Broads you must have a valid Environment Agency rod licence!
Remember you don’t need to have any previous boating experience as at Herbert Woods you will be given full tuition before heading out on your own.
