Tell us about what you do Amy

I oversee and manage all bookings, arrivals, systems and work closely with the operations & boat yard teams to ensure our customers holidays run as smoothly as possible, from start to finish.

 How long have you worked for Herbert Woods?

I joined in 2009, starting in a seasonal position helping customers checking in for their holidays. I’ve worked my way up, as they say and enjoy being able to make a real difference to people’s experiences and managing a great team.

 What do you enjoy about your role at Herbert Woods?

Going home at the end of the day…. but not as you might think. There is no better job satisfaction than knowing that I and the team have got all of our customers off to a great start on their holidays.

 What would be the first thing you’d recommend someone to do on the Norfolk Broads?

If you had to do one thing, I can’t recommend a visit to Ranworth Broad enough and climb the church tower, it’s spectacular.

 What do you like to do in your free time?

I have 4 dogs, 2 are soft coated Wheaten Terriers and two are Miniature Schnauzers and I enter them into dog show competitions.

Tell us about what you do Sam

I speak to customers on the phone to book their holiday, answer any questions, add on extras that they might need or assist with special requirements they might have. I also look after customers arriving on and departing from their holidays.

What’s your career background Sam?

I’ve worked in customer service roles for the last 10 years but prior to that I’ve worked in schools.

Tell us something about yourself

I’m reliably told by the team that I am the best cup of tea maker-er! I’m also a real 80’s girl and through and through but no longer crimp my hair!

What hints and tips can you offer to customers taking holidays on the Norfolk Broads?

I’m told I’m like a walking tourist information guide, there’s not much I don’t know about where to find something or what to do on the Norfolk Broads. I can recommend a few fine spots to stop for a gin and tonic…. or two!

What do you like about your job?

I love the customer interaction from helping them choose the right cruiser or advising where to moor on their first night, I love it all.

What’s your background prior to joining Herbert Woods Sophie?

I’ve worked in the travel/tourism industry for a quite a few years. My first job at 13 was a waitress in a great restaurant on the Norfolk Broads.

What do you do at Herbert Woods?

Besides working with a great team, as well as booking holidays for customers on the phone, I also manage arrival packs. We ensure everything is ready for people arriving on their holidays to ensure they have maps, contact numbers before directing them to the boat briefing team. The team there provide life jackets, before taking them to the boat to show them how to tie mooring ropes, do daily engine checks, how to moor, give them a brief of the boat and take them for a trial run down the river to help familiarise themselves with the boat.

What do you like to do when not working?

I love swimming – in a pool, not in the Norfolk Broads I might add!

What is a real familiar question that pops in to your mind people ask you?

Can I use a hairdryer on the boat? And for those wondering...yes you can as long as it’s under 1400 watts.
