Parks and Play Areas on the Norfolk Broads
The Norfolk Broads is a fantastic family-friendly destination. Whether you’re travelling with toddlers, teenagers or just the young at heart, you’ll find plenty to keep you busy as you navigate these picturesque waterways. If you’re planning a family day out or a holiday on the Broads, here are a few of our favourites to get you started.
If you’re exploring the Broads by boat, there’s a very good chance you’ll stop at The Bridge at some point on your travels. If you do, your kids will be able to enjoy the fantastic play area on offer at the pub. They can explore the pirate ship, ride on police motorbikes, hurtle down the slide or have fun in the games area. While the kids are enjoying themselves in the playground, parents can sample a selection of fantastic, locally sourced dishes cooked fresh in the onsite kitchen.
Nicholas Everitt Park is a traditional country park that’s popular with locals and visitors alike, a great place to enjoy a sunny afternoon. As well as being home to a variety of play equipment, the park also hosts regular events throughout the year.
If your kids want to run around and stretch their legs, Horning Village is a great place to go. The playing fields and playground are just a short walk from the staithe, making it perfect for visitors travelling by boat. Bring a football or cricket set and have fun in the sun before getting back on your boat and continuing your Broads adventure.
You’ll find the Ferry Inn pub here, who are child friendly and have their own children’s play area and you can moor here for free during day. Or, head up a little further and moor at the free Broads Authority moorings alongside the village green, perfect for a picnic and you’ll find the children’s play area (swings, slide & roundabout) all on safety matting and in view of the staithe.
You’ll find free Broads Authority mooring at Ludham Bridge, moor up here and then it’s a very short walk where you’ll find the Dog Inn pub, a family friendly establishment in a beautiful area of the Broads who boast their own children’s play area.
Moor at the Beccles Yacht Station (North Side) and you’ll find water points, picnic tables and a children’s play area with an adjacent field for ball games.
Whilst you might not want to think about your last night on the Broads, this is perfect last night stop. Moor in the marina so you’re not rushing to get back to the marina in the morning and you’ll find the pub and restaurant Norada directly opposite with a newly built children’s play area.
A fantastic destination for kids of all ages, the Norfolk Broads has plenty to keep even the most energetic entertained. Book your holiday to the Broads today or get in touch with a member of our team to find out more about the boats and attractions available on the Broads.
