The Broads Wildlife Explorer comes to Potter Heigham

Visitors to Potter Heigham will now be able to discover the amazing range of wildlife that exists on the Broads with the introduction of the Broads Wildlife Explorer Touch Screen.

The giant 46″ touch screen has been installed in the reception of Herbert Woods Boatyard in Potter Heigham and shows around 200 vivid close-up film clips, stunning photographs and fact files to take visitors on a journey through this magical water land and its amazing flora and fauna.

Amanda Walker, Marketing Manager at Herbert Woods said “Following the closure of the Broads Information Centre in Potter Heigham we found that we are constantly being asked to provide more and more information to the broads and in particular about the different types of wildlife that exist on the Broads.

Having witnessed first hand the popularity of the Wildlife Explorer Touch Screens at the Broads Information Centres in Hoveton and Whitlingham we enquired about the possibility of being able to install our own screen and obtaining a licence for the software.

The Broads Authority were very receptive to this idea and agreed to grant a licence until the end of 2013, the cost of project has also been supported by the Broads Authority Sustainable Development Fund.

Our aim was to increase awareness, among local and out of town visitors, of the valuable Broads environment and the unique natural habitats it provides. The interactive nature of the screen is designed to appeal to all ages and abilities and provides a fun way of learning about the Broads.

We have spent a great deal of time and money upgrading the whole operation here at Herbert Woods. The interactive screen has provided a welcome addition to our new reception and has already proved to hugely popular with both children and adults.”

The screens location within Herbert Woods means that it is easily accessible to the general public and will receive a constant flow of traffic and can be supported by the host of tourist information that Herbert Woods already provide.
